WASTE & RECYCLE PICKUP

Waste and recyclable items are picked up on Monday of every week by Legacy Disposal Services.  All waste must be bagged and recycling must be free in containers (no bags).  Bins should be placed at the street by 7:00 a.m. Monday morning and removed by 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.  Recycling is required of all City residents.  For a listing of what can be accepted in recycling, please contact City Hall or see the My Mountain Park app.  Trash and recycling bins may be ordered through City Hall.  Legacy Disposal will pick up 3 yard waste bags left outside the can.  Residents are encouraged to recycle all yard debris by mulching and composting.  Please contact Legacy Disposal (770-688-9515) to arrange curbside bulk item pick-up in between scheduled dumpsters.  Legacy will bill the resident directly for these requests.  

DUMPSTER INFO

As a service to our residents, the City of Mountain Park provides a dumpster twice a year. This is on a first come, first serve basis. In order to ensure that it is available to all please adhere to the following guidelines:

• One truckload or trailer load per residence.
• All yard debris must be cut into 3 feet sections or less

WATER, SEWER & SANITATION

Water and Sewer are billed based on consumption in gallons. Rates are listed below:

We know you want your utility payment to be processed properly. Here are a few tips to ensure that happens.

•          If possible, return your payment coupon with your check. Do not staple together.
•          Always write your account number on your check. The account number is located on your payment coupon.
•          If handwriting your check, write numbers clearly. Checks are scanned by machine.
•          Make sure checks are not wrinkle. They will not be accepted by the scanner.
•          To avoid a $25 return check fee, verify you have sufficient funds in your bank account to cover your payment.
•          To avoid a $25 late fee, your payment must be received no later than 9:00 a.m. on the 1^st of every month.
•          Late fees are also applied to accounts that are not paid in full for the month.

ANTI-BACKFLOW VALVE

By law, the City of Mountain Park is required to install ant-backflow devices with all new meters installed. Each homeowner will be charged the cost of the device and its installation totaling $55. This amount will be included in your monthly utility bill and will be distributed over a 3 month billing period.

TOILET REBATE

If your home was built prior to 1994, and you replace your toilet with a low flow toilet, you are eligible to receive a $50 rebate on your next water bill. You may submit your receipt to City Hall to qualify.

WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR WATER USAGE

1. Check for leaks inside and outside your house.
2. When washing dishes by hand, don’t let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
3. Some refrigerators, air conditioners and ice-makers are cooled with wasted flows of water. Consider upgrading with air-cooled appliances for significant water savings.
4. Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk or street.
5. Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.
6. Choose shrubs and groundcovers instead of turf for hard to water areas such as steep slopes and isolated strips.
7. Install covers on pools and spas and check for leaks around your pumps.
8. Plant in the fall when conditions are cooler and rainfall is more plentiful.
9. Monitor your water bill for unusually high use. Your bill and water meter are tools that can help you discover leaks.
10. If your shower fills a one gallon bucket in less than 20 seconds, replace the showerhead with a water efficient model.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

The City of Mountain Park has a great recycling program. Everyone participates, and as a result, we keep a large volume of material out of landfills. Before you recycle, try to reduce the amount you recycle by reusing items to keep them out of the recycle stream.

Reduce the amount you recycle. Make wise packaging selections. Select products that are not wasteful in their packaging. Practice composting.

Reuse containers and products. Buy only what you need and use what you bought.

Recycle. As much as possible, buy products with recycled content.

Mattress Recycling

The Mattress Recycling Council estimates that Americans dispose of roughly 15 to 20 million mattresses every year. The average mattress takes up 40 cubic feet, which means that one year’s worth of discarded mattresses will occupy more than 132,000 square miles of landfill space. To cut down on waste and preserve landfill space, mattress owners in the U.S. are encouraged to get rid of their old mattresses using alternative means.
